The current Hotel de la Paix consists of two buildings. On the one hand, we have Café de la Paix which has been a cafe since time immemorial. At the time, it was considered very normal to combine the job of café owner with another.
In the past, the property has been occupied by a photographer, a watchmaker, a flax merchant, a horse trader, a tailor and a petrol station owner. During the Second World War the place was bombed and in the 1950s, a new building was installed which solely served as café.
When Koen Sambaer and Linda Rouseré bought the property in 1992 and renovated it in 1994, it was enlarged with a restaurant. In 2003 , they bought the adjacent building from the then photographer, Gerber. It was then thoroughly renovated in 2008-2009...
...Hotel de la Paix was born!
